What to do when your student (or someone you know) has tested POSITIVE for COVID

A teacher recently reached out to me to ask what to say when a student tests positive.
This is now happening more often than not and we all, not only educators, need to prepare for ways to communicate with friends and loved ones if it happens to them.

This is not a time to remind the person of what you believe they did wrong.

When people test positive, there is often guilt or anger about all of the things that they feel that they didn't do safely.
Don't joke about it. Don't add to their guilt.

Be supportive.
Remind them of how much you care about them.
Remind them of the good things they offer this world.
